Common questions
What's the difference between 9.5mm and 12.5mm plasterboard?
12.5mm is the usual choice for walls and is stiffer between studs. 9.5mm is lighter and often used on ceilings with closely spaced joists. Check the spacing of your studs or joists before choosing.
Which plasterboard should I use in a bathroom?
Moisture board, often called green board, suits humid rooms. It isn't a waterproof surface, so areas inside a shower need a suitable tile backer board.
Does fire board make a wall fire rated?
Not on its own. Fire performance comes from the whole construction, including the studs, layers and fixings. Check the requirement with your building control officer.
